Custom Plush Toy Pricing Guide: How Much Does It Cost?

Custom Plush Toy Pricing Guide: How Much Does It Cost?

Designing your own plush toy is exciting — but one of the first questions creators and brands ask is: “How much does a custom plush toy cost?”

The answer depends on several factors, including prototyping, order size (MOQ), design complexity, and materials. In this guide, we’ll break down the costs so you know what to expect when working with Wakuma’s custom plush toy manufacturing service.

Prototype Pricing

Before full production, every plush project begins with a prototype.

  • Starting cost: $295 USD for a simple design, and can run up to $475 for a more complicated humanoid design.

  • What’s included: A design consultation, 2D plush design, and a finished prototype for review. If you’d like, we can ship the prototype to you. For bulk production, we’ll either need to create a second prototype ($50~100) or have the original one shipped back to us for reference during manufacturing.

  • Timeline: typically 3–6 weeks depending on complexity.

👉 Why it matters: A prototype ensures your plush design is perfect before moving into bulk manufacturing.

Bulk Manufacturing Costs

After approving your prototype, you can chose to move into bulk production.

  • MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity): can be as low as 25 units

  • Unit cost range estimate: (final pricing may vary depending on design complexity)

    • 25 units @ $20 each → $500 total

    • 100 units @ $15 each → $1,500 total

    • 500 units @ $10 each → $5,000 total

    • 1,000 units @ $8 each → $8,000 total

  • What affects unit cost:

    • Size of plush (small keychain style 15cm vs. 35cm huge size)

    • Materials (fabrics type, embroidery amount, accessories)

    • Complexity (shapes, layers of clothing)

Factors That Affect Custom Plush Pricing

  1. Size & Dimensions – Larger plushies require more materials.

  2. Materials – Specialty fabrics or large amount of embroidery add cost.

  3. Design Complexity – Multiple clothing, accessories, or custom shapes increase production effort.

  4. Order Quantity – Higher quantities reduce the per-unit cost.

  5. Packaging & Extras – Custom tags, boxes, or accessories add value (and cost).

Estimated Timeline & Payments

  • Prototype Phase: 3–6 weeks (prototype fee upfront).

  • Bulk Production: 3–5 weeks (bulk order payment + shipping deposit).

  • Shipping & Fulfillment: Global delivery available.
